BARTLETT HIGH SCHOOL DANCE TEAM TAKES TOP HONORS AT UNIVERSAL DANCE ALLIANCE
BARTLETT, IL (July 2009)_ The Bartlett High School Varsity dance team returned from a four-day Universal Dance Association (UDA) dance camp with impressive results. Each of the 22 team members earned three superior evaluations for their individual performances for a total of 66 blue ribbons.
The team also received the UDA Team Leadership Award, a recognition given to one team voted by camp participants as the team they would most want to be a member of.
Team captains Courtney Flood, Samantha Lewis, Alexandra Medina and choreographer Kayla Bruneman were named All American Dancers and invited to Rome to perform. This honor is given to dancers displaying strong technical skills, along with superior memory, showmanship, dedication, and choreography skills.
Lexi Brown, Kayla Bruneman, Demi Maropouls, Taylor Matan, and Kayla Roman participated in the Team Routine and won an outstanding Team Full out ribbon for their added choreography and formations.
Other team honors included the presentation of the spirit stick in recognition of the team’s enthusiasm and overall spirit and presentation of a third place finish for the team’s home routine, qualifying the dancing Hawks for the UDA Nationals held in Orlando, Florida.
The camp, held at Wheaton College, hosted over one hundred dancers from across the State. The Bartlett High School Dance Team is coached by Jamie Peldonia.
Congratulations to the Bartlett High School Dance team for a great camp experience!
-Our Home routine received third place and qualified us to attend Nationals in Florida.
-Every member of the team walked away with three superior ribbons for their individual routines which also qualified us to attend Nationals in Florida.
-Courtney Flood, Samantha Lewis, Alexandra Medina, and Kayla Bruneman all made All American and were invited to go to Rome over New Years.
-Lexi Brown, Kayla Bruneman, Demi Maropouls, Taylor Matan, and Kayla Roman participated in the Team Routine and won an outstanding ribbon for their added choreography and formations.
-The team won the Leadership Award which was voted on by all the other teams at camp.
-The team was also given the Rockstar Spirit sticks which was given to us by another team at camp.
-We also were given a overall Spirit stick by the UDA staff.
Overall the girls had a great time at camp they learned new choreography, better technique, and bonded as team!!!

Camp News!!! The girls will be showcasing their home routine (the one they did at the picnic) tonight (7/15/09) at 6:30 in the Recreation Center. This will also give you a chance to bring them anything they may have forgotten! They will be showcasing their “B’ & “C” dances (they will learn these at camp) on Saturday 7/18/09 at 9:15 am in the Recreation Center. Here is a map of the school and directions to the Recrecreation Center.
Coach has made updates to the calendar. Please check her website. These updates include; practice on Friday, July 10th at 8am and the picnic on Monday, July 13th at 6pm. Departure time for camp will be posted by 7/8/2009. Also, the balance of the clothing orders is due on Wednesday, July 8 at practice.
